Week 1: Choosing To Move

This is the first step in your journey toward lifelong heart health and fitness. You will be taken through a simple and gradual process that will help re-shape your attitude and behavior patterns when it comes to physical activity.

Assess Yourself

Let's start by assessing how you currently feel. In the chart below, write down the benefits of exercise and eating right that you think are most important — as well as the barriers that are holding you back.

Next, think back to a time when you felt better, had more energy, or achieved something important to you. How did you achieve your goals? What choices did you make that helped you succeed? List some of these strategies below.

Chart Your Success

Now, review your benefits and barriers list, choose one or two of the success strategies that have worked best for you, and use them this week to overcome the barriers that have been keeping you from reaching your goals. Record them below:

Record And Review Your Activities

Your activity log is your personal feedback tool. It will help you stay accountable from week to week. Look at it every day and write down or check off what you've done. People who record their activities tend to reach their goals!
